Message from the PTO President
Hey Ram Nation!
On behalf of the Waltrip High School PTO, welcome back to the 2026–27 school year! I hope your family had a wonderful summer. Ours seemed to fly by — one minute it was the last bell of May, and now here we are, ready (ish!) for a brand-new year!
It is an honor to serve as your PTO president this year. Whether you’ve been involved with us before or this is your first hello, we would love for you to join us! There’s a place here for everyone, and we welcome the opportunity to help you find the perfect way to contribute.
Getting involved can look like a lot of different things, and each one matters. Join as a member for as little as $5 and come to a meeting. Volunteer for an event. Join a committee. Or simply make a gift to support our mission. However you choose to show up, you are a critical part of supporting Waltrip.
With your help, we look forward to ensuring that the staff feels loved, making improvements to our campus, being a resource for parents, and creating memorable experiences for our students — hopefully with lots of fun along the way!

Ram Rally Tonight!
Waltrip’s annual Ram Rally back-to-school-event is happening tonight,Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30–8:00 PM. Students – come get ready for the year ahead:
- Get your ID
- Join a club or sport
- Meet the staff
- Buy spirit wear
Tacos Y Gorditas Rioverde taco truck will be on site for an easy dinner!

Welcome Back Luncheon Thursday
The entire Waltrip staff is hard at work this week preparing for the 2026-2027 school year. Help show them some love by volunteering at the Welcome Back Teacher & Staff Luncheon this Thursday. Several time slots are available between 11am and 2pm.
Class of 2027 Senior Sunrise
Kick off senior year with a sunrise to remember! Join us for Senior Sunrise on August 10th at 6:30 AM at the Waltrip Baseball Field.
Bring a blanket and watch the sun rise together as we celebrate the start of an exciting final year — breakfast follows at 7:30 AM.
Parents — come join the fun and lend a hand to make this morning special for our seniors!

The PTO organizes student events like Senior Sunrise and Homecoming Dance, and fundraising events like Jazz on 34th and DJ Bingo Night. We also support staff with appreciation events and provide teacher grants. As a Member, you can help shape these activities and support Ram Nation. Join today and be a part of something impactful!

Calling all Ram families! Join us for our second Athletics Workday this Saturday, August 8, at 9 AM as we spruce up our fields and facilities. Gooooo Rams!

Stock the Lounge!
Help us show our teachers some love by stocking the teachers’ lounge with snacks and drinks! There are two easy ways to help:
- Purchase from our Amazon Wish List — items ship straight to the school.
- Buy on your own and drop off donations tonight at Ram Rally.
Every donation helps our teachers feel appreciated as they kick off the new school year. Thank you for supporting our Waltrip staff!
First PTO Meeting, August 18
The first PTO meeting of the year will take place on Tuesday, August 18. This will be a great opportunity to learn about how the PTO plans to support Waltrip this year and provide your input.

Now is the time of year to renew your Volunteer in Public Schools (VIPS) approval with HISD so you can sign up to volunteer on campus throughout the school year.
