Waltrip PTO Grant Program
The Waltrip High School PTO Grant Program supports projects, programs, materials, events, athletics, and other initiatives that benefit Waltrip students and our school community.
We encourage teachers and staff to think creatively about ways the PTO can support learning, engagement, enrichment, athletics, student experiences, and life at Waltrip. All ideas are welcome!
Fall 2026 Applications Are Open

All Waltrip High School teachers and staff may apply, either individually or as a group.
Yes. Grant recipients must be members of the Waltrip High School PTO before grant funding is awarded.
Not a member yet? No problem! If your grant is selected, you will be asked to join before the grant is awarded. Basic PTO membership is only $5, and membership dues help support programs like this one.

We welcome a wide variety of requests, including:
- Classroom materials and resources
- Student and school projects
- Athletic equipment, materials, and initiatives
- Educational programs and presentations
- Student activities and special events
- Enrichment opportunities
- Other ideas that enhance learning, engagement, student experiences, or the Waltrip community
Have an idea that doesn’t fit neatly into one of these categories? Apply anyway! We want to hear about it.
As a general guideline, grant requests are typically around $300 per application. Requests above that amount will be considered based on the scope and impact of the request, available funding, and the overall application pool. Requests for smaller amounts are also encouraged.
Approved grant requests should be fulfilled during the 2026–2027 school year unless otherwise approved.
No. Grant funding must be approved before any purchases are made. The PTO cannot reimburse individuals for items or expenses purchased prior to grant approval.
If your grant is approved, you will be asked to provide a shopping cart, quote, invoice, or other purchasing information for the approved items or services.
Whenever possible, the PTO will make approved purchases directly and arrange for items to be delivered to the recipient or school.
Some vendors may require additional steps or documentation. If special purchasing procedures are necessary, we will work with you to complete the purchase.
Applications are reviewed by the PTO Educational Support Committee. Because available funding is limited, we may not be able to approve every request.
Applications are considered based on the information provided, the anticipated benefit to Waltrip students or the school community, the amount requested, and available funding.
If a strong proposal cannot be approved because funding is unavailable, we encourage you to apply again during the next grant cycle.
Help us understand exactly what you want to do and why it matters!
- Be specific. Clearly explain what you are requesting and how it will be used.
- Tell us who will benefit. Let us know approximately how many students, classrooms, teams, programs, or other members of the Waltrip community your request will impact.
- Include realistic costs. Whenever possible, provide quantities, estimated prices, links, quotes, or other details that help us understand your request.
- Explain the impact. Tell us how your request will improve learning, engagement, enrichment, athletics, student experiences, or the Waltrip community.
- Give us a timeline. Let us know when you expect to use the materials or complete the project, program, or event.
You don’t need to write an essay! Clear, thoughtful answers with enough information for the committee to understand your request are best.
Physical items purchased by the PTO through the Grant Program become the property of Waltrip High School and should remain on campus.
Materials purchased specifically for an individual teacher or staff member may remain with that person while they are employed at Waltrip. Items purchased for a department, grade level, team, program, or other shared use should remain with that program or area regardless of future staffing or assignment changes.
Complete the online application by October 20, 2026.
