A Year of Ram Pride:
2025 – 2026 Wrap Up
Hello Waltrip Ram families!
Cheers to reaching the end of the 2025 – 2026 school year! Whether you’ve made it through your first year as a Ram or are planning next steps with your graduating Senior, Congratulations!
Your Waltrip PTO has been hard at work this school year – operating behind the scenes, on campus and in the community to bring our Rams the best in educational experiences, campus improvements, social enrichment, and staff support. Our volunteers have logged countless hours in the school store, hosting student and parent events, recruiting new families, feeding staff and visitors, cleaning, upgrading and repairing our facilities, soliciting donations, and improving connections between our surrounding community and our amazing
school!!!
Here are just a few things that your PTO has accomplished this year:
— Continued to operate the beloved Snack Shack, providing warm welcomes, after-school snacks, and fun surprises
— Founded Ram Fest Days to celebrate our multicultural heritage, our differences, our common joys, and to provide the venue for campus groups to raise a combined $33,244 for their activity funds
— Joined our Ram Families and surrounding community (including our awesome feeder school families) at our Jazz on 34th and DJ Bingo Fundraisers, parent engagement events, Loteria night, Ram Rally and Signing Night
— Provided a HOCO tailgate experience and a Homecoming Dance
— Purchased durable goods available to be used by all organizations: sound system, photo backdrop, party lighting, table cloths, oversized yard games
— Awarded $11,000 in scholarships to Waltrip students for post-graduation programs of study
— Provided educational grants including: classroom supplies, smart tablets, calculators, classroom book sets, craft supplies, clay for ceramics, football pylons and goal markers, wrestling tape, kneepads, and headgear, venipuncture training sets and “arms”, lapel microphones, sheet music, Delta Math programs,
Robotics curriculum, robot parts, drones and drone parts, color guard flags, JROTC rifles, museum field trips for SPED students, tricycle for ArtBike parade, fetal pigs for dissection, tennis uniform shirts and equipment
— Supported our awesome Waltrip staff through teacher appreciation events and gifts, holiday luncheons, happy hours, monthly snack carts and maintaining a tea and coffee bar in the teachers’ lounge
— Provided AP testing support in the form of student/staff lunches on test prep AP Saturdays, and snacks during AP testing; supported AP African American Studies community event and breakfast with community partner
— Celebrated our Seniors through Senior Sunrise and Senior Sunset events; provided parent liaisons for class fundraising assistance toward senior year activities
— Designed and sold new spirit wear, hosted a PTO website full of information, recruited and organized a thriving volunteer network
— Improved campus facilities with new signage, safe street-crossing signs, cleanup endeavors, paint for murals in the band hall, fine arts halls, library and cafeteria courtyard, paint and cleanup supplies for the tennis court revitalization, total renovation of the cafeteria courtyard (power-washing, crushed gravel, metal-work and paint), new benches, picnic tables and umbrellas and stands for outdoor spaces
We owe a special big THANK YOU to our Community Partners who have supported us all year: being present as 3DE judges, sharing valuable input at meetings and life experience at student assemblies, volunteering at events, surprising our members with dinner and snacks, and offering financial support for our projects and endeavors. We couldn’t do it without you.

There is still so much more in store – plans are always in the works to keep bringing the best to our community! We’ll be completing painting and beautification projects over the summer, and planning for next year has already begun!
The work of the PTO is never done, but none of it could be accomplished without our greatest asset – YOU!
Thank you to our many dedicated and hard-working volunteers who share their time and resources to support the Waltrip Family and make every day amazing. We hope you join us next year, as we continue to help our Ram students, staff and community thrive.
I appreciate the opportunity to serve you and the students and staff of our awesome school for the last two years! It has been an honor.
Stay connected with us this summer through our newsletter and our social pages. We can’t wait to see you out and about at all of the Waltrip summer camps. Have a great summer and as always – GO RAMS!!!!
With Ram Pride and always in your service,
Michelle Schoene
