We’ve got a full week of activities planned to show our awesome teachers and staff some love during Staff Appreciation Week, May 4th – 8th. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer to make it all happen. Please consider signing up to lend a hand!
Ram Fest: One Love
April’s Ram Fest will take place TOMORROW during lunch. We’ll be celebrating every ability, every story, every student. Come together, support each other, and be part of something bigger. All students. All backgrounds. One Ram Nation.
As always, we need some help to make this event a success!
Welcome, Class of 2030 and 2026-2027 Transfers
The Class of 2030 and all 2026-2027 transfers will be welcomed into the Ram Fam during signing Night on Thursday, April 30.
Every incoming student (zoned and transfer!) is invited to officially begin their journey as a Waltrip Ram:
- Meet teachers, administrators, and counseling team
- Explore athletics, fine arts, and club opportunities
- Get a head start on scheduling by meeting face-to-face with counselors.

Proposed Bylaws Changes
Join us for the May 26 PTO meeting when PTO members will vote on a few proposed changes to our bylaws.

VEX Robotics World Championship
A huge congratulations to Waltrip’s BattleRams for an incredible season. They recently competed at the VEX Robotics World Championship — some would call it the equivalent of the Olympics in the robotics world — where they went head-to-head with some of the best teams on the planet. With 12 awards earned throughout the season, it was truly remarkable, and a testament to their skill, determination, and teamwork.

Legends of the Stage: May 8
Mark your calendar for an unforgettable evening of dance at Waltrip! Featuring performances by Beginning, Intermediate, and Advance Dance, the Oak Forest Bobcat Belles, and the Waltrip Roses.

Eat Crawfish, Support Rams Football
Head to Crawfish Cafe (1026 N Shepherd Dr) Wednesday, May 6th for dinner and help support Waltrip HS Football.

Cool Off with Friohana Shave Ice
Friohana Shave Ice will be available for purchase every Tuesday after school. Proceeds benefits Rambotics & the Ram STEM Foundation.

The Waltrip Class of 2026 is off to an amazing start with college acceptances rolling in — and it’s just the beginning! Their hard work has truly paid off, and we’re proud to celebrate this milestone with them!

Spring Band Concert & Taco Dinner
Don’t miss the Waltrip Ram Band’s Spring Concert and Taco Dinner this Tuesday in the Waltrip Performance Gym!
Dinner begins at 6pm, followed by the concert from 7-9pm.
Dinner tickets must be purchased by April 29 — only a very limited number will be sold at the door, so don’t wait!
Spring Sports Awards Ceremony
Waltrip’s Spring Sports Awards Ceremony will take place this Friday, May 1 at 6PM in the auditorium. The ceremony will be followed by refreshments in the cafeteria.
Sports Physicals: 5/19
Sports physicals for the 2026-2027 school year will be offered at Waltrip on May 19 from 3:30 – 5PM.
All students must have a current sports physical on file before participating in practices or competition.

Current and future Waltrip parents and caregivers—you’re invited to an informal get-together to meet new faces and reconnect with familiar ones.

Summer SAC & Sports Camps
All HISD students in grades 6-12 are invited to attend Strength and Conditioning Camp (SAC) at Waltrip this summer.
SAC Camp will take place Monday through Thursday, from June 15th through July 16th (Off days: June 19th & July 1st – 3rd.
Support JROTC
Waltrip’s JROTC program focuses on leadership, discipline, teamwork, and community service. Funds raised will support the Military Ball and competition registrations.
Lotería Community Event
Mark your calendars! The PTO is hosting a FREE Lotería (Bingo) Night on May 23 from 4–6 PM at Waltrip. All families are welcome to play, win prizes, and enjoy free food. Come connect with your community — it’s going to be a great time!
