The Waltrip High School PTO is a community of parents, caregivers, teachers, and staff working together to strengthen campus life. We build school culture, support academics and student well-being, and create meaningful connections between families, staff, and our surrounding neighborhoods.

FAQs

What is the PTO?

PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization.  The mission of the Waltrip PTO is to coordinate efforts to bring a closer relationship between home and school so parents, guardians and teachers can cooperate in the education of Waltrip students. Meet our Board.

What does the PTO do?

The Waltrip PTO supports students and staff through campus improvements, academic and extracurricular grants, direct student support, and community-building programs. In 2024–2025, we funded major upgrades—including $35,000 for gym bleacher repairs, bilingual wayfinding signage, murals, shared campus equipment, and revitalized tennis courts—while strengthening campus life through staff appreciation, student essentials, spirit traditions, and community fundraisers.

During 2025–2026 school year, we’ve expanded our impact with monthly Ram Festivals to build school spirit, a $10,000 grant to address student food insecurity, and a new $10,000 scholarship program for graduating seniors.

What’s the difference between a PTO and PTA?

The PTO is an independent group whereas a PTA is a national organization.  We are a PTO and does not pay membership fees to any national organization.  All membership fees we collect go directly to the PTO and are used to support the school.

Who can be a member of the PTO?

All parents, family, guardians, community members, teachers, staff, and students are welcomed and encouraged to join the Waltrip PTO.

Why should I join the PTO?

Membership in the PTO helps Waltrip and its students.  Membership fees go directly to the PTO budget to support our school and therefore our students’ educational experience. 

How do I join the PTO?

You can join the PTO by choosing a membership level in our online store.

When are the PTO meetings?  Where are they held?  Who can attend PTO meetings?

PTO meetings are typically held the 3rd Tuesday of each month, at 6pm. Meetings will be held in the Waltrip Library.  Our meetings are open to all parents, guardians, students or teachers. Check our schedule on the events page!

How can I help/volunteer?

The PTO has many volunteer opportunities with varying levels of time commitment throughout the year to fit all schedules.  Click here to fill and form to volunteer with our standing committees. Make sure you are VIPS approved!

How does the PTO raise funds?
