What is the PTO?

PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization.  The mission of the Waltrip PTO is to coordinate efforts to bring a closer relationship between home and school so parents, guardians and teachers can cooperate in the education of Waltrip students.

What does the PTO do?

The WHSPTO has organized and funded the following: Senior Sunrise, Homecoming Dance, Waltrip Staff breakfast(s) and luncheon(s), Staff appreciation snack carts, Jazz on 34th fundraiser, Waltrip DJ Bingo Night fundraiser, Go Texan Day Events, Spring Dance, Advocacy trivia games and prizes, Senior Sunset, Mini-Grants (apply now!), the WHSPTO School Store, and Campus Clean-ups.

What’s the difference between a PTO and PTA?

The PTO is an independent group whereas a PTA is a national organization.  We are a PTO and does not pay membership fees to any national organization.  All membership fees we collect go directly to the PTO and are used to support the school.

Who can be a member of the PTO?

All parents, family, guardians, community members, teachers, staff, and students are welcomed and encouraged to join the Waltrip PTO.

Why should I join the PTO?

Membership in the PTO helps Waltrip and its students.  Membership fees go directly to the PTO budget to support our school and therefore our students’ educational experience. 

How do I join the PTO?

You can join the PTO by choosing a membership level in our online store.

When are the PTO meetings?  Where are they held?  Who can attend PTO meetings?

PTO meetings are typically held the 3rd Tuesday of each month, at 6pm. Meetings will be held in the Waltrip Library.  Our meetings are open to all parents, guardians, students or teachers. Check our schedule on the events page!

How can I help/volunteer?

The PTO has many volunteer opportunities with varying levels of time commitment throughout the year to fit all schedules.  Click here to fill and form to volunteer with our standing committees. Make sure you are VIPS approved!

How does the PTO raise funds?

The PTO raises money through fundraisers, as well as private and corporate donations. Want to make a donation? Click here!
